A heartwarming tale about bravery, unexpected friendship and helping others, for ages 3-6
“Next to the track by the railway bridge line, Ferdinand Fox sat biding his time. A few moments later, the sound he well knew; the 6.10 from London, approaching on cue…”
When Ferdinand Fox hears a cry for help near the railway track, he leads rescuers to a lost little boy. But will anyone realise who the real hero is? This fun rhyming story, inspired by a fox I once saw trotting up the steps to the station platform, shows young readers that heroes come in all shapes, sizes – and species!
Ferdinand Fox and the Lost Boy has been sitting in the virtual drawer for far too long and I am thrilled that the story is finally seeing the light of day. With the passing of years since the first two books, the time felt right for a style refresh and I am thrilled with Andrew Smith’s beautiful illustrations. I hope you and your children like them as much as I do!

Free colouring sheets…
At the end of the story you’ll find a link to get free colouring sheets for all of the books in the Ferdinand Fox adventure series, as well as for activity sheets for The Christmas Tree Wish.

Three more fox stories to come! 🦊🦊🦊
Ferdinand Fox and the Lost Boy is the third of six rhyming fox stories I wrote many years go when our boys were little. The first two: Ferdinand Fox and the Hedgehog, and Ferdinand Fox’s Big Sleep, offer gentle introductions to Ferdinand’s character and are firm favourites at school visits with children aged 3-5.

The remaining three stories, all great fun and continuing the ‘quiet hero’ theme that we see in Ferdinand Fox and the Lost Boy, are due out in 2025 and beyond. I can’t wait! 😊 🦊
